[in a world where maka is from, meisters such as herself usually kill witches/wizards due to them being a horrible threat. and being the top of her class, she follows the rules of her academy. she takes the souls of those whom are corrupted with and addition of one witch/wizard. but then she met draco. sure, he can be a jerk and really annoying to handle. but all in all, he's not a bad person. at least, not in maka's opinion.]

That's what it really boils down to, in the end. More of a choice than what Kyuubey had offered her, true, but still a decision that's essentially a sham. Mami realized what she had to do the moment that the Queen's proposal fully registered. The course of action that felt right, called to her in a way that couldn't be denied: her existence for Utena's passage home.

It's no longer about atoning. The question of her guilt, her shame and self-loathing.....such burdens seem so blessedly unimportant now, in the light of this chance to finally do something worthwhile. Not for herself, in any measure (she's not yet tired of this world, of living on within it), but for the one she loves the most.

It's a step Mami is willing to take, has already committed to. The only thing left is to tell Utena.]
