Humans almost never ventured out there in summer. But a few days after he arrives, there's a thought on the wind - and when he turns around, Israel is there, lounging comfortably against the rock wall.]

[He was pretty clearly bunkered down for a while - there are two rather large metal boxes with water and food, a hammock strung up from metal poles, a duffel bag of clothing, a small radio that can pick up stations from impossibly far away. He'd been laying on the stone, soaking up the heat, ducking in for a drink and a cloth to cover his eyes to nap when Israel appeared.]

[A soft smile and hard eyes. If Magneto's hiding, there's a much-better-than-even chance someone is after him. And he isn't large enough to take all that many strikes, even in the remotest desert, without the consequences spilling over. He doesn't intend to toss Magneto out, but he does need to know the risks he's signing up for.]

[He is hiding. But no one is chasing, save Doom. And Doom doesn't want to give himself any reason to slide off the very precarious perch he is in with the UN.]

[His jaw locks, almost gritting his teeth together, words almost snarled.]

Doom and I had a little disagreement. He has no idea where I am, no way of tracking me, and little incentive to follow.

Calm down, you're exactly as safe as you were ten minutes ago. I'm just curious.

[Further tenses, more angry, more stubborn, for a few seconds and then calms down, though he doesn't look any more relieved, if anything, he looks upset.]

[Daniel's gaze softens.]

I'm going to be here either way, remember? Come on, just tell me what's wrong.

[There's more of that tic, that of that snap, before complying.]

Doom cast a little spell.

[He spits it, voice growing more hostile as he talks.]

[How he can be that calm and still have that tone frightens him.]

[Arms folded. Voice prim.]

Stop being angry with me for things that aren't my fault.

[He wants to lash out. It's almost an ache and he can't. He's calm and hates it.]

Then stop making things worse and leave. Stop that.

[He flushes in anger, body tense, absolutely ready to fly off the handle but is able to and that calms him down.]

Why won't you just leave?

[He's bristling, torn between pulling away, back towards his camp where he has a weapon handy and leaving but knows there's no where else to really go.]

Because I expect to be dealing with you for a long, long time, and you're a very difficult person. Certain opportunities are not to be missed.

[he shrugs]

I figured the least I could do was be honest with you back.

I think we have very different definitions.

[He wants to pace, to move, to do something, but doesn't. Doesn't want to give Daniel anything that even hints at an opening, or a chance to get closer. Trust is, right now, at an extremely low level.]
