[Nuzzles into his chest and sings a rough, half-muffled old lullabye. Because of reasons.]

[magnetic_magpie]

[That's soothing. He'll cuddle closer.]

[eternaliyah]

[Snuggles and sings and maybe hums when he runs out of verses.]

[Very slowly, he relaxes. Little by little, but his muscles soften.]

[eternaliyah]

[Pets and hums and cuddles.]

Sleep. And have sweet dreams.

Stay.

[Otherwise, no dammit, he doesn't want to.]

Hush, of course I will. Now sleep.

Fine.

[And he does sleep, even if he keeps a pretty tight grip on Daniel the entire five hours.]

[He lies awake, enjoying the solid warmth of him, turning their situation over and over in his head. Until his phone vibrates in his pocket, and he gets an update on the translation work, and groans.]

[He wakes slowly, clutching at Daniel like a child would a teddy bear or favorite blanket, with almost a whimper, as if he's trying to not wake, but finally opens his eyes.]

What's wrong?

[eternaliyah]

[He hugs Magneto a little tighter with the arm still wrapped around him.]

We've figured out how it works a little better.

[Said in an almost soothing, this-is-the-good-news-isn't-it-helpful sort of tone, hopeful and brittle.]

[magnetic_magpie]

[It's something in the tone, something he can't place, but it sets his nerves off and he tenses.]

Yes?

[eternaliyah]

[He sighs, nuzzles Magneto lightly, then leans away enough to look each other in the eyes comfortably, though they're still touching. Then he says, in a quiet, resigned way,]

It's...the more resistance you have to an order, the more it...uses up the curse. Telling you to do things you don't mind has barely any effect.

[magnetic_magpie]

[As Daniel talks, he gets more and more tense.]

...Oh

[eternaliyah]

Yeah.

[Sigh hug whatdotheydo.]

So. I'm going to be really horrible to you now.

Fuck, I'm sorry about this.

[But he can't leave you like this. He won't. Whatever it costs him.]

[magnetic_magpie]

No.

[It's stubborn, but almost fearful. Because even if he didn't think this reason, it's what he was afraid of.]

[eternaliyah]

[Daniel strokes his hair gently. He's probably going to get shoved away soon, but god they both need it. Saying yes, apologizing again, all of it - there's nothing he can say that won't make it worse, that won't just be dragging this out. He drags in a breath.]

From now until this ends, you have to forgive yourself. For everything.

Stop telling me how to feel!

[Shoved away isn't the term for how violently he pushes Daniel away. And while it's all raw anger, it's hiding how much fear there is in this, in what's going on, in what's happening as his brain screams nonononono and yet lets go.]

[eternaliyah]

[He manages his own landing enough to suffer no more than bruises, though he doesn't bother trying to get up again. Dully, he goes on,]

Don't do anything to stop me giving orders. Don't do anything to me you'd regret after the curse is over.

[Other than that, yes, you can hurt him.]

[He growls, getting up and pacing, feeling trapped already, glaring. The promise with doing nothing he'd regret, was there was a lot he wouldn't regret if he felt trapped. If he no longer felt safe, he had no reason to regret.]

[eternaliyah]

[Daniel knows that condition offers less protection that the injunction against interfering with his ability to give orders; but there might be discrepancies between Magneto's normal limits and his limits when his usual issues about blaming himself are suspended, so Daniel included it just in case. Daniel just watches him, still and sad.]

Believe me when I say:

I love you. Because you're one of my children, like all the others, and because there's no one else like you anywhere.

I have for ages. I was devastated when you left and I still miss you when you're away.

[magnetic_magpie]

Shut UP!

[Because screaming doesn't stop Daniel really, but no, no STOP. And he can't put anything between himself and Daniel without backing himself more into a corner, and he's very scared because having his ability to think and feel is worse than being made to do things, and low but close thunder rumbles from lightning too high to hit the ground.]

[eternaliyah]

[He draws his knees up to his chest and wraps his arms around his shins. Quietly,]

Okay.

[The orders are all still in effect, but Daniel can give him time to breathe.]
