[Axel leans his cheek against Riku's shoulder with smug satisfaction, drinking in the full-bodied shiver as the younger boy captures his hand. He's having fun, and Riku is remarkably entertaining when he's flustered; it's enough to make him content to just nuzzle against him, and not even try to resist Riku's grip.]

Right on. Just what else could I hope to gain from this, anyway?

[curepotion]

Then what's your--

[ god, what is going on? he can't get anything out of Axel without starting another reaction. ]

... motive.

[firewheeling]

I'm pretty sure I just answered that a few minutes ago. Weren't you paying attention?

[Obviously, sprinkling voluntary actions in the midst of ones he feels compelled to do is the best way to go about doing this--just a little more of a leg up on keeping him confused and off-balanced. He's even starting to think this isn't so bad after all, so long as Riku doesn't catch wise and start trying to force him to do things he'd really rather not--after all, he's feeling shockingly good right now, the best he can remember since..... well, since he was able to feel things like this.]

[curepotion]

Can you blame me if I'm not? You keep touching me.

[ and it's distracting because Axel's gloves have cold water clinging to them, but his body seems too heated, and it's a mesh of temperature confusion that makes Riku's body react all too readily. ]

[firewheeling]

I guess I can't blame you too much..... What's the matter, you don't like it?

[curepotion]

[ he has him there. he half-scowls before he pushes Axel, letting go of his hand quickly. ]

You already know the answer to that.

[firewheeling]

[The way Axel staggers, you'd think Riku had pushed him much harder than he had--or that he barely weighed anything at all. But he sways back and lets the momentum and direction of the shove spin him on his heel like a top, laughing as the bottom of his coat flares around him. He pivots again with a quick flourish to face Riku, and judging from his grin, completely undeterred. What good is a game without a little horseplay, after all?]

Oh, come on--it's hardly fair to say that when I have two answers to choose from. But they do say actions speak louder than words..... So I'm gonna say you liked it a fair bit.

[curepotion]

[ sorry, did you mean to say, 'blush harder, Riku'? Because that's what he's doing, and with a red face, he launches forwards to grab hold of Axel's jacket with both gloved hands and bring him close to his face. ]

Leave me alone. That's an order.

[firewheeling]

Woah--!

[His smirk at the blushing falters as Riku lunges for him; bootheels scrape awkwardly against the ground as he instinctively tries to lean back and keep his balance, and he ends up with his hands on the boy's arms to keep himself upright instead, as close as Riku is holding him. In the end, though, the impulse to back off and get the hell away from Riku, strong as it is, is able to be settled for the moment--in large part simply because he can't, Riku isn't letting him go yet.

So for the moment, he's willing to let himself be held dangerously close, body radiating warmth and grasp loose as he allows Riku to help support his weight. The smirk has faded to a mild half-smile, but his eyes are bright and keen still, fixed intently on Riku's face with an almost feline air of expectancy. Well? Is Riku going to let him go? Keep him close? Stop sending mixed messages? Maybe he needs to make up his mind before he offers any more orders.....]

[curepotion]

[ it's like he doesn't really know he's holding onto Axel.

it's like those eyes push him into a world of his own for a moment, and Riku feels he should be distinctly ashamed at the way his lips part and his jaw drops a little--not enough to be amusing, but enough to definitely show he's a bit disarmed.

when he finally crashes back down to earth he flinches and throws Axel away. ]

[firewheeling]

[There's a flash of tongue darting out to wet his lips; Axel's smile only grows sharper as he takes in Riku's expression. This is almost too easy..... At least Riku's cute when he's this flustered.

But he sprawls headlong across the pavement as Riku throws him, almost doll-like in how loose and unresisting he is as he falls. Axel pushes himself up to a sitting position, expression disdainful as he gives himself a shake and starts to rise. Even so, it looks like he really might leave without a fight, after all.]

Touchy, touchy..... You could have just asked, you know? The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

[ did--

Did Axel just call him a girl? he's struck still in his stance in pure shock. Did Axel just call him a girl--? but, then, he slowly starts to relax... to summon Soul Eater and hold it above his head, in a battle stance.

he will end you if you don't run. ]

[firewheeling]

[Axel glances over his shoulder at Riku even as he turns to go, noting the odd silence and stillness. It's only when he sees Soul Eater being summoned that he's satisfied to leave, laughing in delight and snapping out a spirited salute to Riku's stance before he turns to bound off. No portals for him, not this time--he'll enjoy a good run, and if Riku is irritated enough, maybe even a good chase.]

[ Riku has to physically stop himself from giving chase. he digs his blunt nails into his palm, and turns to walk away. he has to walk away before he decides to chase Axel down and give him a good talking to, with Soul Eater doing all the talking. ]
