If you know that -- are you are too smart not to know that -- then what is it that you're trying to do?

Loki. That...is the most self indulgent pile of dwarf dung that I have ever heard. There's an entire universe full of options other than self-destruction. You don't get to hurt people just because you're in the midst of an identity crisis.

[sorcerous]

I may hurt them because I wish it.

[brosif]

And you wish it because you are hurt. It's a pointless cycle, and it's entirely within your power to end it.

There is more glory in ending a war than in starting one.

No. I found one friend exiled and another mad and dead because of actions we didn't need to take.

[sorcerous]

Am I the mad one, then? Perhaps I should have been exiled.

What are these, if not the words of a man gone mad?

[She sounds calm, but if you were listening very hard, and had known her for a very long time, there might be a note of sometime more underneath. Because she so desperately wants some kind of – rewind, impossible as that is. For Loki to have the words in his back pocket that would put an end to all of this, and bring him home to Asgard. To erase the past few months, and put them all back to a time where their group’s biggest worry was that Thor’s ego was too large to fit the crown.]

[sorcerous]

[ And he looks at her, and for a second, two, perhaps, there's something like shock buried there. ]

Sif --

[ Sif, Sif, what have I done?

His hands tremble and curl into fists. ]

Then slay the Jotunn traitor.

Put me out of my misery.

[brosif]

[And then what? Sif's hand went to her sword as she stared at the fallen prince. Her hands didn't shake. Not when connected to a weapon. But this didn't feel like them. Only roles they’d been cast in.]

[She took her sword out, less of a person and more of a body. That's the way complete the Allfather's work -- to remove yourself from the parts of it you don’t like, though there had never before been parts of it that she didn't like.]

[ He wishes it were so, but he finds that he does not believe it. There is a hollow in him where that belief should be. ]

I would believe, rather, that they would view my passage with relief.

And Thor would heal in time.

[brosif]

Frigga wouldn't.

You weren't there last time. [Back to rage, then. Loki's always excelled at tipping the balance, where Sif's hold on a level head is concerned. But he left. He let go, leaving them all with their arms stretched out.]

I was. I could not condemn them to that again.

And yet you cannot continue on as you are. What will you do, Loki? Tell me honestly. What will you do if I let you walk away now?

[sorcerous]

It's too late to turn back, Sif! I'll do evil. Not mischief: evil. It is time for that.

[brosif]

Because you want to be the evil traitor? Or because you don’t know what else to do?

Answer me.

[There’s something heavy in Sif’s voice, waiting to drop. What she does next hinges entirely upon Loki's answer. Even with the spell, to her it almost feels like he's the one in control.]
