[ Sweet-looking or not, Noel doesn't look particularly happy, thin lashes fluttering behind the lenses of his glasses. ]

Fine, [ he says quickly, nothing if not distracted. ] Friends it is.

That's not very convincing, friend.

[ A small battle seems to play itself out upon Noel's face before his expression smooths out into something fairly neutral, and altogether calmer (less fanatic, anyway) than his usual state. She's said friend and this curse — or whatever it is — means nothing can be done halfway.

(His features are an amalgam of fine lines drawn over a framework that's surprisingly sharp, topped off by a complexion made pale by too many days spent inside — although one could rightly suspect that it wouldn't change even if he were an outdoorsman — and peppered with freckles, and baby blues that are just the slightest touch too blue. He might be handsome if it weren't for his all-consuming devotion to the Magistrate.) ]
