[When her favorite sibling calls Michael doesn't hesitate to fly to her side. Lucifer, the sister she practically raised, the one who could tear her away from just about anything with a single word. That's exactly what had happened this time, she'd been ordering a few lower angels about when the call came and without a word to them she left them in her wake. She's not surprised to see that it's Eden where Lucifer's decided to summon her to and Michael can't help but smile.]

What is it?

Have you heard?

[Lucifer's voice is very soft, worried.]

Has He told you?

About the humans?

[About what He wanted from them? She's heard and isn't exactly sure how to feel about it yet. It can be seen in her face as she looks over the garden.]

The roaches. [A twitch of her lip.] This was all for them, Michael.

[Two words and Michael knew the way her sister felt about them. There was a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach at the thought of what could come.]

So it seems. [She looks over her sister.] You don't like it.

He wants us to be their slaves, Michael. He wants to take our glade and give it to them to use!

[The glade where Lucifer had first sneaked away with Michael, had first explored what it was like to meld Grace.]

[Finally she moves towards her sister to lay a hand upon her cheek, gently stroking with her thumb. Michael didn't like the idea of losing their glade anymore than Lucifer did but to go against God? It put the eldest in a tight spot.]

What would you have us do?

Help me convince Him this is a mistake. He won't listen to me, but if He hears all of us, the four of us especially, He'll have to listen.

Help me, Michael.

[She doesn't answer right away but instead chews on her bottom lip even as she lets her hand fall to her side. It was dangerous to stand against Him. As the favorite Lucifer would have the best chance of convincing Him of anything but still...]

What if they don't?

Then we'll all be slaves. No freedom, no world to explore. [She takes a sharp step forward, both hands cupping Michael's face urgently.] Do you think He'll let us be how we are now? He won't.

[Lucifer's right. If God got His way then the angels would be forever stuck as their caretakers. She can see it in her sister's eyes. This isn't just a streak of jealousy. Her eyes close for a minute before she lifts her hands to cover Lucifer's as if trying to draw courage from her younger sibling. Never had she thought about going against Him and in fact Michael had always followed every order, tried so hard to gain His favor while not putting a toe out of line. Father expected more out of her than any of her siblings and never looked at her the way He looked at Lucifer.]

All right. Let's speak with the others. [She wraps her fingers around the other's hands and pulls them away. Yet she doesn't let go and instead uses them to tug the other closer. If they're going to die or be punished for their actions then Michael wants one more moment.] We'll do it soon.

[This doesn't mean that Michael has sided with her--she knows that. But it's a step. It means that Michael has perhaps seen some of the same concerns that Lucifer has. And so she lets herself be led (no one else is ever allowed to pull or push her anywhere). She rests her head against Michael's shoulder, and her palm caresses Michael's cheek.]

This is our glade, isn't it? [Lucifer: the only possessive, territorial angel. And yet she always asks for validation from the others, always looks for a sign she's not as different as she feels.]

[She hadn't seen any of them to be honest not until Lucifer brought them to her attention. Michael was the sort to follow God's orders blindly and would had never thought about what they were about to walk into without Lucifer bringing something up. Now though, those thoughts were definitely starting to form. With the hand pressed against her face Michael leans into it.]

Yes, this is ours. [Michael said it without thought. They had no need of worldly possessions but sometimes the elder sibling wanted to give the younger one everything she wanted.]

[Michael had said she wanted to stay a while, so Lucifer smiles and leads her to the sunny area right by the stream. Oversized insects are making their way through the undergrowth, but none of them bother the angels.]
