"Well, I had a lot of motivation, too," he grinned, because it was true - he wanted to dance with her, and he couldn't do that if he was terrible at it. He was just glad he'd been able to pick it back up so quickly, especially because he agreed with her, even if neither of them knew it - things felt right right now, the light and the music and the way it felt like they were the only people in the park. When she leaned up to kiss him, he met her halfway, lips brushing over hers. He wanted to tell her how he felt, that he loved her, but he still wasn't sure it was a good idea. Maybe he could tell her later - at the end of the night. Then he couldn't ruin anything, just in case she was angry or disappointed or... anything other than how he wanted her to be, which was happy.
"It is," he finally agreed, just watching her as they moved slowly. "This is about as far from all that," meaning the war, "as a person can get... and I think that's what it's meant to be. Why we celebrate it." Because, after all, they'd won their independence as a nation after a long, hard war. This was to celebrate not only freedom, but the end of all that.
