[ Sigh. Sometimes he wonders if "lady" is an appropriate title anymore. ]

I'm not trying to lead, Odinson. I am just a natural leader. It's not something I would expect you to understand.

[Another frown -- her bite, here, is clearly rooted in having very little idea of what she is doing. Titles aside, Sif is a farmer's daughter, born and raised.]

Oh, please kick me where it hurts again.

[ On the contrary, Loki is the lucky one who gets to do this every accursed celebration or festival or what have you simply because of his title, and it is considered rude for a prince to not join in, so he is the experienced one who knows where to step and how high to hold her hand etc etc etc. At least he dances better than Thor. Though really, he should be the one dancing here with her. They could break both their shin bones respectively. ]

If my goal were to hurt you, friend, we would be in the training yard.

[Still looking down at their feet. She really is trying to let him lead, but it is not an inclination that comes naturally. She wishes, vaguely, that she had paid more attentions to her dance lessons as a child. She always knicked off early to go play by the river.]

[ He sighs. This is utterly ridiculous. Farmer's daughter or not, women of Asgard attending these celebrations need to know how to dance, and he looks utterly ridiculous with every flinch and wince he makes when she stomps on him. Awkward is an understatement.

A hand lifts to uncharacteristically gently touch her chin, tilting her head up. And pointedly ignoring the ram comment, since she only mentioned it because he's not wearing the helmet. ]

Lift your head. Eyes over my shoulder. Step where I guide you. If you constantly watch your feet, you focus too much on your potential for making mistakes, and you will shatter my shins before the night is over.

[It says something about the state of the night that she does as he instructs. She takes it as a personal challenge. She can already aim as well as Loki and strike as true as Thor. If the princes are able to dance, then so can she.

She follows his lead, but looks more like a woman on the training field than on the dance floor.]

[ She will never dance as well as the trickster prince, of that he is certain. She may be able to compete with them on the battlefield, best him in strength, but she chose to be a warrior and had to focus on overcoming those obstacles first. She'd set her priorities. It's her own fault she's so clumsy on the dance floor like this.

Though, at least she is willing to learn. Why she was dancing with him and not Thor was still puzzling, although perhaps his brother was in the mead again. Still, she could have said no. But they dance, and it's still awkward and he will have bruises for days, but at least it's not so embarrassing now. ]

[She keeps her chin raised, but it is a trial not to glance at her feet, or to attempt to copy the movements she sees in the couples around her. From the back of the hall, there is a loud crash followed by the familiar sound of Thor's laughter.

Sif takes some pride in the fact that her dancing does not falter.]

It would seem that your brother's night is drawing to a close.

[liugan]

[ At least it's something. He's not as embarrassed by her poor dancing skills now. The crash doesn't even unnerve him, an expected end to any night as most of their celebrations were. Loki can only scoff. ]

Perhaps you should see to it that he makes it safely to his chambers, and does not attempt to romance one of the statues along the way.

[brosif]

Are you so eager to find yourself a new partner?

[She has seen Thor romance statues. It becomes less amusing after the first twenty times.]

[liugan]

I am as eager to be anywhere not your general vicinity as I ever am.

[ But it's more fun when Loki enchants the statues to participate. ]

[A frown. Thor make take his brother's barbs with a laugh -- Sif is under no such obligation.]

Very well. Tell me when this tedious song finishes, and I will be on my way. They all sound the same to me.

[Yes, okay, that is incredibly amusing. But she's not going to admit it when she's annoyed with him.]

[ Oh, good, she's about done with this as he is. Loki remains silent until the last few chords of harps and other such notes come to a close, then he is letting go of her hand to properly, formally bow. As expected of a prince. ]

A pleasure, my lady. I hope to never dance with you again.

[ He'll have to go search for Thor now. Oaf probably would be headed to the baths to trip and drown in. ]
