Hey, don't let me stop you. I could learn a lot more from watching.

[Fine, then, she will just dance over and take his hands.]

Dance with me, come on!

[excuse me, miss, wtf r u doin.]

But I don't know how to!

Ohhh! Why didn't you say so?

[She giggles and swings their joined hands back and forth.]

That's okay, I'm kind of making it up as I go!

[truffulacide]

I mean, when I'm by myself it's a whole lot different, but that's not real dancing. It's boogieing!

[okay, wow. gotta slow down for a minute. he's rambling, just saying whatever comes to mind. when he glances down at what she's doing, his eyes widen. none of that, now.]

And besides, it's a little hard to do this without music!

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[And her response to that will be to start humming loudly and trying to lead him in an improvised dance.]

[and he just siiiighs.] Much better.

[this wouldn't be so strange if he was actually used to dancing with other people. like he said before, whenever he dances, it's usually in private and it's definitely not coordinated. he doesn't have to worry about looking silly when he's alone.

then again, he's not the only one who looks odd right now. it...wouldn't hurt, right?

he presses his lips together, suddenly looking very determined, and he gets an idea. without any kind of heads-up, he takes Rapunzel by the hand and wraps a free arm around her waist, moving her into a dip.]

- But if you're going to do this, at least go all out.

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[She gives a little yelp of surprise, then smiles at him.]

Oh, gosh! This is fun!

[truffulacide]

Really? That's strange. [he tilts her back up at him and looks at her, almost nose-to-nose, flashing a mischievous little grin.] I haven't even gotten started!

[making this up as we go indeed. all he's doing is imitating moves he's seen in movies; the ones he never would've had a chance to pull off otherwise without a partner. nonetheless, he finds himself laughing as he twirls with her.]

So, do you find yourself doing this with guys often, or am I special? [teasing now.]

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[She giggles as they continue, clearly delighted and thoroughly amused.]

Well, actually...

[truffulacide]

[a scandalized gasp.] Oh, Miss Rapunzel. What will the neighbors think?

[hairflyingheartpounding]

[Laughter as she shakes her head.]

It was pretty different.

[his smile's bumped down a notch and he tilts his head.]

What do you mean?

Oh! Well... Back home, Flynn and I met some thugs... They were going to turn him in, but then everyone ended up singing about their dreams and dancing, instead.

It was nice.

[conversationally:] One time, I got a bunch of animals to dance with me and be my backup singers. It was really cool too until it got out of control.

That sounds fantastic! What happened, though?

They flipped out and tried to maul me. No idea what their problem was. [after all, it wasn't like he came close to almost accidentally killing any of them. that's just silly.]

Hey, hold onto me. I wanna try something.

They... What?

[Well, he seems awfully calm about it. Okay, then.]

[truffulacide]

Exactly! You don't expect cute little bears to be so bloodthirsty. [a beat.] Most of the time.

Here we go - ! [and he’s pulling her up in his arms, one arm around her back with the other tucked under her legs. he twirls with her like that, trying to be graceful and actually pulling it off relatively well.]

You’re so light! [- like this is some new, exciting discovery.]

[hairflyingheartpounding]

Oh! [More delighted giggling!] That was wonderful! You're so good at this.

[truffulacide]

I’ve always wanted to try this. Now I can cross it off my bucket list. […] Well, if I had one anyway.

[he carries her like this for a few more minutes in a mock waltz before gently lowering her back onto her own feet. he gives her another smile and laces his fingers through hers.]

[She smiles at him warmly. She really is getting so comfortable around him... Besides, this really is the most fun she's had since coming to Mayfield.]

What's a bucket list?

See what you've done? This really was a bad idea.

[because once you get Once-ler started with anything that might even remotely involve a beat or a groove, good luck getting him to stop.]

It's a list people make of things they want to get done before they kick the bucket. [loosening up, he leads her into a slow but steady dance, this one less twirly so he can concentrate more on talking.] Mostly stuff they've put off, or impossible, amazing things.
