┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ the deal

FORMAL OR INFORMAL, WITH MUSIC OR WITHOUT, YOU COULD BE AT A GLAMOUROUS GALA WHILE A SINGER CROONS SOFTLY OR IN THE SILENCE OF YOUR OWN LIVING ROOM. WHEREVER YOU ARE, YOU HAVE THE URGE TO DANCE. DID YOU ASK YOUR PARTNER OR DID THEY ASK YOU? HAVE YOU GOT TWO LEFT FEET OR IS THE VIENNESE WALTZ YOUR JAM? IT COULD BE AWKWARD, IT COULD BE ROMANTIC. EITHER WAY IT'S CUTE AS HELL.

[She appreciates the added security even if she doesn't know him well -- for the most part, people in Anatole seem more willing to help. Maybe it was because they all had to deal with whatever the strange place sent at them. Nobody from the Capitol would care to left a finger for anyone else from the Districts until their food supplies were cut off.]

You're doing fine. Thank you for asking me to dance.

[She smiles.]

I didn't go to these functions often. Finnick was invited to more.

[Having Haymitch at anything reserved for Victors was enough of a handful that she was sure she'd have just gotten in the way.]

I was glad to do it.

[ even if robb himself only barely knew the steps, wasn't certain of them and followed her lead to keep from stepping on her dress or her feet. or both. ]

Why did you come this time?

I thought it might make me more comfortable here.

[Being out in public and not paraded around like a creature to be gawked at is -- nice.]

It's different from Panem. If I remind myself of that...

[--what, exactly? Maybe she can get better? She doesn't think those nightmares will ever actually leave her, especially the ones that seem to crawl up into her waking hours.]

Things might be easier.
