Outside is a relief; even if it's nowhere near the heat of a club, the room the ball is being held in is still getting to the point of uncomfortable warmth, and Darcy welcomes the fresh breeze, taking a deep breath that shudders slightly on the exhale as Ezio brushes fingers along her chin. It is harder to read his expressions with the mask hiding his face, but she knows that tilt of his head, has seen the curious expression that accompanies it enough times to see it now, and her mouth quirks up.

"Out here, I can do this."

Completely abandoning the steps and form of the waltz, she wraps both arms around Ezio's neck and steps closer, swaying slightly. Awkward prom slow dance sway is a god. But there's something much more beautiful about this moment, a way in the swishing of her gown, of the mystery of the masks, of the fact that it's Ezio, that makes it so much better than any dance she's had before.

[ by now, with her body curled against his, she can read his movements well enough to follow them, knowing each muscle and its patterns. she'd never thought much about the appeal of just swaying against someone else with the occasional simple movement, but this moment is perfect. ezio's arms are warm and safe, and she feels like this moment could go on forever and she'd be happy.

[ she laughs at him. it's more a chuckle, low and short, but not quiet enough to be drowned out by the music. it is not shallow and jaded enough to be drowned out by the mask of insincerity. it is hard to be consistant at early hours of the morning; it is a time for sleep, or some sort of rest, and sex with subsequent follow up dancing did not quite substitute that. ]

[She's going with whatever he does, enjoying this, because it's been a long night. It's nice to finally relax a bit. The closeness strikes her as strange, but not stiff or unwelcome. Naturally, as similar as they are, she's comfortable around him. The awkwardness ebbs away, and they're left with just music and irrationally close proximity.]

But when Dylan began to relax, something warmed in him again, and he pulled his friend back to standing. Finally he put one hand on his shoulder, the other one his waist, and gave him a more genuine smile. "I think this is how we're supposed to do it. So that we don't have to keep shifting whenever we alternate."

Dylan also changed the position of his hands. "That does seem like it would go a bit smoother."

And now it was his turn to pick Gaheris up and spin him. He decided he'd try to pick him up higher this time. Higher than he'd lifted Gaheris the first time and higher than Gaheris had lifted him.
