[Raven knew very well that lying was bad. Especially lying to Charles, because it always took that extra bit of effort to conceal the truth, which really just made it worse. It was true she had to work a late shift at the diner, but not a graveyard, yet she told Charles she'd be out that late once her coworkers invited her out for a drink, despite knowing how dangerous it would be to go out drinking after already being so tired from work. Not because she's an irresponsible drinker, but because it was always harder to hold her shift when she was drunk. But she wanted to go, wanted to try her hand at being normal, without getting a lecture from Charles first.
A few hours and entirely too many fruity drinks later, Raven's using the phone in the back of the dark bar to call her brother at the mansion, leaning on the wall for supporter because yeah, wow, she should have cut herself off four drinks ago. Now she could barely keep her eyes open.
