There was never a feeling of this being forced, she'd wanted this from the start, from the moment she decided to sneak into his room in nothing but her robe. There was no question that she wanted to get as close to him as she could even if she was nervous and excited. But that was normal, right? It had to be. But when he spoke, he made it so much easier for her to ignore those butterflies in her stomach, the way her heart was swelling in her chest so big. "I think I've wanted you all my life." She just didn't know it until a couple of years ago. "I'll always love you. Always." And she'd prove it to him time and time again if she had to, if what she'd done already wasn't proof enough.
But as she leaned over to kiss him, she felt him tense beneath her fingertips which only made her pause and pull her hand away from his chest, her eyes opening to look at him as he pulled back from the kiss. And as he started to speak, her eyes started to drift downward, wondering what he was talking about, why he was drawing her hand to-- Her eyes went wide as her fingers suddenly felt the raised and puckered skin beneath her fingertips. And for a moment she just pulled back a little so she could see, her eyes squinting against the dim light of the room. Her training as a nurse did her no favors when it came to imagining what sort of wound it was, what it looked like when it was fresh, her expression falling for a moment as her hand slid down his side. She knew it shouldn't hurt him but her eyes flickered to his face to make sure. "Leckie--" She leaned up to press her lips to his briefly, her words that followed soft and full of emotion. "I don't like it but not because of what you think... I don't like that you had to go through all that pain." Her hand stayed on it, smoothing up and down along the scar, tracing it with her palm. "You're still perfect to me."
And after pressing another soft kiss to his lips, she dared to be bold, leaning down to press a kiss to the scar, shifting above him a little so that she could do so. Her fingers found another, small nick near by and she pressed her lips there too, realizing then that this was the first time she'd ever done something like, kiss a man's chest. She glanced back up to him, "I love all of you."
