He went a little slower than they'd walked coming here, but with every step he grew a little more sure, a little more relaxed. Of course, when she said he was doing great, he glanced down at her, unable to keep from smiling softly. "Oh... I don't know that I'm doing all that great... but I know I'd be a lot worse off without you to take care of me. This whole time, I really mean it. You are the most important part of me getting better, fast or slow." If he'd been alone under those fireworks tonight... he'd probably still be curled in a ball on the grass, unable to process what was happening.

When she moved a bit closer, he glanced down again, moving to sling his arm carefully around her shoulders instead. "Not too cold, are you?" He'd happily turn over his jacket, it was a little cooler than he remembered July being, though the funny thing was that he always felt a little more easily chilled, now that he wasn't in the tropics anymore.
