He glanced over as the music started, but it was actually a nice touch, the way it drifted over to their little spot behind the tree. The park was starting to fill with more people, though most of them seemed to congregate near the band and their spot was still pretty private, which he couldn't say he didn't like. Every time someone nodded or thanked him, he couldn't help but smile a little - though it was a modest smile, a little pleased that people hadn't forgotten everything after the war had ended. Though of course the way Summer seemed to glow every time someone thanked him was something special, too - and he figured it out when she thanked him, herself - she was proud, and fuck, if that wasn't the best feeling in the world, her being proud of him. "I'd do it again," he murmured sincerely, tilting his head to catch her lips, though just for a soft, brief kiss. "But I sure hope it never comes to that again."
He grinned more earnestly as she looked at him curiously, wanting to know what he'd brought. But she was right - he wasn't going to pull it out until he had to, maybe ten or five minutes before the show, he was keeping an eye on his watch. "You'll just have to find out," he said in a singsong voice, though he added, "I promise you'll like it. Even if your cookies outshine just about anything." He sat there watching her for a moment, before he glanced in the direction of the band, even if he couldn't see them very well, and asked - "It might be only for a song... but would you like to dance?"
