"Well then, it sounds perfect." Oh, Neil had never been unkind, he'd helped Bob in a lot of ways, used his influence to consult with other doctors, let him spend time with his daughter. His caution was well-deserved - if nothing else, it kept Bob on his toes. And maybe that wasn't a bad thing, just like when he'd told Summer that she could rush him a little, and maybe it would just help keep him on track.

"I hope I have," he said earnestly, giving her a hopeful smile. Right now he knew couldn't love her like he had before - before, that love was born of years of memories and he couldn't give that back to her, not now that he only had some of those memories back, but not all of them (yet, he hoped). But he'd found that he loved her simply because he couldn't not love her - for her kindness, her patience, and her spirit. She'd been so easy to fall for that he'd barely realized it was happening, and when he finally had, he had been hesitant to say those three words to her, worried she'd think he didn't mean them - or that he couldn't mean them in the way she wanted. He was still waiting for the right time to tell her, but for now all he could do was let his actions speak for him. "I just want to be deserving of whatever you want to give me, that's all. I couldn't have gotten this far without you, I'm pretty darn sure of that."
