Maybe I'll stay on his good side if I make him some dinner?" He knew that Neil Roberts liked him all right, but he still got the feeling her father was a little wary of them dating, sometimes. He knew that the man was only looking out for his daughter, but that also meant he was always trying to make sure he knew that she was in good hands.
Of course, both of them were concentrating more on the food than anything just now, but that was all right - food was for eating, after all, so he was glad she seemed hungry. Still, he was even more glad for that smile, those words she said a moment later. "You deserve it, Summer. Absolutely. You deserve a lot more than I can do for you, really... but I guess I'll just always be scrambling to catch up." He didn't say that like it was a bad thing, though.
