The way she looked, just then... he couldn't help but bring his hand up to touch her cheek, feeling his heart beat a little faster at the idea that she was so relieved that he could be with her. He'd never felt that before, that he could remember, having such power over another person; it was a heady feeling, but not one that came without the mutual feeling that, somehow, if she were to be sad, he would be more than a little restless and guilty until he could fix the problem, make her smile again.
