Everything he'd said was true, and he couldn't help but smile - a small, but hopeful smile, when she said she wanted to try. He nodded, letting her pull his hand up to her lips, but, "You don't have to worry about it. I've been lazing about for months." Not necessarily true, he'd been recovering. But still - "Maybe a little rushing is what I need." He glanced at her face, his thumb moving against her lips, before he blurted, "Can I kiss you? I mean, I know you did, the other day, when you thought... but I won't if you don't want me to." But if there was a time to start... now felt pretty right. But only if she wanted him to. If she didn't, he'd keep his distance, not suggest it again until she brought it up first, and he tried to make his face say that as he waited for her reply.
