"I'll bet it can," he agreed, watching eagerly as she started to cut that roast, breathing deep to get as much of the aroma into his nose as he could. She insisted that he sit, so after a second or two more he did - he supposed he was a guest, after all, and he'd better let her be a hostess. "Two or three is fine for now," he said - oh, yes, he'd definitely want seconds, but too much more than that to start and he'd just seem rude. The food wasn't going anywhere, and neither was either of them.
