[Sets his cup down too and wraps his arms around Japan's waist in a hug, his head hidden against Japan's chest.]

[He fidgets a little, clearly there's a lot more to say, but the words aren't there.]

[He blinks but hesitantly moves his arms to hold Marco there, eventually setting a hand on the back of his head.]

Marco, please tell me what is preying on your mind.

[Spike isn't well versed in apology, but he's gotten better. Especially in recent years. But it didn't make it any easier, to spit out the words. When he'd first gotten his soul it had been easy enough to throw it around, but now. Now after Hell and Highwater and his Dirigible Full of Insects? It just felt like a lie.

A lot of the things he said these days felt that way.

Rapping on the familiar door, thump thump thump before prying the door open. He's bursting in without an invitation; the one from long ago held untempered. He goes to open his mouth before he realizes Peter's not there, and he manages to get over his initial panic and track his scent to the kitchen before he ends up talking to the carpet all night.]

I knew you'd still be standing, Pete, just wasn't so sure New York would be. [It's Spike's brand of a greeting.]

Even though I know more than others.

[He would never know everything. He didn't know the passwords that protected eight of the ten computers in that middle room. He didn't know the accounts where James had stored money. He knew they existed, but he could never have led someone to it.

Still, though, he knew more than others had been killed for.

And it was curious to him. He wasn't complaining, but he was aware of it.]

[But again, he knows what she means. Sherlock glances at her when her demeanor changes. He still didn't understand-- why would she want to go anywhere with him, when she had the whole universe at her fingertips with the Doctor?]

[He could think of a few places worth investigating outside of England. Looking up at the sky, he decides this is alright for now.]

[They're not so literal this time, but there are still plenty to go around. Spike can only sigh as he taps on her window. He knows she may not be able to invite him in, but just seeing her for one moment is better than not seeing her at all. And she did choose him over Angel, well. In a way.]

[ Peter would have gotten to the door eventually, really he would have. But he was busy being lost in his thoughts, like usual, screwing the cap of his water bottle back on as he stared ahead at the opposite counter. By the time he shook himself free and told himself to go get the door, it was already being burst open.

Which probably should have been more concerning, but stranger things had happened.

Shifting slightly and pushing away from the counter, intent on going to see just who needed to see him so badly, Peter rooted himself to the spot when Spike showed himself, eyebrows lifting in something sort of like amusement at the other's words. ]

Didn't have to come see me to make sure the city's still in one piece.

her mouth twitches first into a half-smile but she soon drowns it out in a frown. a carefully calculated frown. but still -- she nudges the window open and crosses her arms on the sill. ]

What could you possibly want?

Take your pick. [he quirks his head, but just stays there on the roof, a bit frozen. He could be a patient man when he wanted to be.]

[Only after barging into Peter's kitchen did he realize he really didn't...have to be doing any of this. But Peter was alive and here and now this was awkward.] Sorry about... [breaking your deadbolt? that seemed a little weak, now that he was here. Spike just frowned, leaning against the counter.] You busy?

Oh no, watch out for the sick witticisms coming from this kid. I'll need some aloe vera for that burn.

[He gets up and stretches, cracking his neck with a satisfyingly disturbing sound.]

Well, bonding over violent pornography has been an absolute treat but I have work to get back to. Besides your sudden case of bogyphobia you alright for the time being?

[ one peek out the castle wall reminds her that the fall is far; however, spike's the sort of creature who could survive the distance. clearly her complaint is a cover. ]

[Michael is laughing happily as they roll even as she reaches up to wipe those tears away.]

How about to the end of the universe? [As far as they could get from God's little pet project.]

[He narrows his eyes, but isn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Not that Buffy is any sort of horse at all. Ungracefully, Spike stumbles in and just barely manages not to go crashing into her.] As you like it.

[ Peter shrugs, brushing aside the apology before even asking for an ending to it. Besides, it hardly mattered now that Spike was here. Moving around Spike to toss his water back in the fridge, he gives his head a shake before throwing Spike an expectant look. ]

Wouldn't be here if I was.

[Slowly....he nods.] Right. [Because that explained why he was there, obviously. He wished it did in any case.]

Got a beer in there for a weary traveler?

[ with a curt hand gesture, she motions him through the rest of the room -- out the bedroom door. her glance is imperious; she would brook no argument. ]

What brings you to my neck of the world? [ a quiet scoff at her own unintended pun. ] Hopefully not actually my neck.
