I bet they've got loads of wounded back at camp. Oodles of them. What am I going to do for them, huh? I don't know the first thing about...[ her voice shakes. and then she realizes that SHE is shaking. ]

[Horatio bites back a cry of pain. The sudden rise did nothing but rend the wounds on his more. Still, he forces himself to make no other sound, even as his eyes close against the pain and lack of balance he feels.

She's right. This is his fault, but he can keep the situation from getting worse. His own wounds are nothing. His pain selfish.

He has to fight through this. Find some redemption in those still alive.]

Y--yes.

I-- [It's hard to say, but his pride is battered enough-- shattered, even-- that the words will come out after a struggle.] I am at your command.

[ Amy stares back for a moment, then finally takes the scarf and moves around behind him. She doesn't have to stand on her toes, only lean over his shoulders a bit to make sure she has it secured across his eyes. ] That should do it. [ Instead of leading him by the shoulders, she goes back around to his front and grabs one of his hands. ]

Okay, just follow me and don't ask questions.

[ As long as he didn't fuss too much, they should round the corner and walk a few steps into the alley before stopping. There's a series of clicks and what sounds like a door opening before she gives him a tug to step forward and walk inside. ]

[ she trails off. she wears her grief and her culpability with grace. she has a decade's worth of a guilt complex under her belt -- her own breaking would come later. alone and white-hot. ]

Okay. So you're a pro at those things. Big whoop. [ she grows cold. defense mechanisms cycle into action. ] But you know what I'm a pro at? Dying for a good cause. Leave this on in my very capable and expert hands.

[Estonia blinks stupidly at her for a moment, his face showing clear bewilderment before he can appear stoic again. That doesn't last long, though, because by the time he can respond verbally, he's also flailing his hands in distress.]

Are you-- is it-- Does that even make biological sense? [Since he is pretty sure the other female nations he knows cannot have been celibate or on effective birth control for hundreds of years. Not that he's asked, mind you. That's just speculation.]

[Self-reproach comes naturally. It isn't harshly said or meant to draw reassurance. He says it as simply as if stating the weather. The defeat in his voice, though, says it all.

This battle, this moment... is done. And he can look about at the carnage and see all his mistakes, relive every moment and see the little things. Every detail he had missed. Every way he could have at least reduced the causalities.]

[Sherlock sighs-- doing this right out in the open doubtlessly made him look like a prize idiot, and he starts to wonder why he agreed to this at all.

He can tell by the distance and the smell that she's pulled him into the alley nearby which was... odd. When he hears a door, it's doubly so. There wasn't anything of the sort in this alley. Or there hadn't been.]

only...only it seems to fail and falter. her knuckles -- if they make contact with his jaw, otherwise buffy will notice the discrepancy from her own experience -- won't provide the well-strengthed blow that a slayer's punch ought to provide. instead, she punches like a...well, like a petite woman with little actual power.
